Are you kidding me?!
I love my RSS feed. It’s so entertaining, and educational. For instance, did you know that if you have hypothyroidism, your disease and the symptoms of depression you suffer from are caused by chronic calorie depletion? According to Kevin Cann on Robb Wolf's blog it's true!
As a woman who has been dealing with hypothyroidism for 20 years, I can tell you this: CHRONIC CALORIE DEPLETION CANNOT CAUSE HYPOTHYROIDISM! As a friend of mine likes to say, "That's like putting DesCartes before the horse".
Follow me here:
- Trigger: Stress, Environment (cigarette smoke), Cancer, Genetics etc.
- Then comes the hypothyroidism, undiagnosed,
- Then comes the weight/depression, bad enough to force you to see the doctor,
- Then comes the diet!
Where do these people find this stuff? When you are hypothyroid, food does not fill you up. That switch in your brain that tells you you're full is not working. It's gone. It's almost impossible to eat sensibly when your satiety centre is shut down. All those diets that tell you that you don't have to watch your portions, just eat until you're full? They don't work when you're hypothyroid.
The worst thing about being hypothyroid is having people tell you there is nothing wrong with you. Or better yet, your dieting is causing your condition.
Don't you just love it when someone tells you how you are? Especially when they know nothing about you?
I sure do... NOT!
